I was supposed to go hiking on Saturday at a place called Glenclyffe Loop. I was really excited because I’ve never been hiking and lately I’ve been enjoying trying new things. (Alone of course. This blog isn’t named Diary of an Introvert for nothing. 😆 ) I wound up not going thanks to one heck of a leg cramp the night before. When I woke up Saturday morning my leg still felt tight and I figured that going for a four mile or so hike wasn’t such a good idea. I was a little disappointed at not being able to go but decided to go to this Magnum pop up shop that I’d been hearing about on Instagram. Settle down with a big cup of coffee because this is going to be a picture heavy post. Who doesn’t like looking at pictures? I spend most of my internet time on Flickr and Instagram. 🙂
I hopped on the bus and headed out, already imagining what my creation would taste like. Yes, it might be gimmicky. Yes, it is pricy, but it’s a fun thing to do every once in a while. I usually feel really self conscious taking pictures of my food in public, but everyone was doing it here and they even had an area set up in the back specifically for that purpose. When you get there they have a menu of sorts set up outside the door with the price there as well. I already knew how much it was going to cost so I didn’t have the sticker shock I’m sure some of you are having right now. 😀
This wasn’t the area. I’m a big dork and didn’t notice the little stand they had set up against one of the walls. Either way, I thought this made a pretty good setting for a picture.
This was my “creation”. Vanilla ice cream with white chocolate coating and Greek yogurt buttons, sorbet chocolate curls, and Himalayan pink sea salt. I love salty/sweet combinations so this was right up my alley.
The place was basically set up for Instagram. I happen to love looking at pictures on Instagram. I mostly look at food pictures but I like other things too. It was a fun atmosphere with everyone taking pictures of their Magnum bars and the inside of the place.
After I had finished the last bit of my tasty creation I decided to walk off some of those calories by walking around the High Line. I didn’t walk too much considering that I put off the hiking trip because my leg was sore, but just a little bit to get some air.
As it was a warm and beautiful day outside, there were lots of people walking along the High Line and trying to keep cool in the shade under the trees.
Everyone had their own way of dealing with the warmer temperature.
It’s always nice to take advantage of the warmer weather and sit outside with friends.
I was just walking along and almost walked right by this beautiful mural. When I start wandering around, lost in my own thoughts, I can miss even big things like this mural. I love how detailed it is and how colorful.
I’m not a big fan of cities (I’m more a fan of wide open spaces, lots of land, etc.) but I have to admit that the skyline is impressive. The beautiful sunny day and blue skies just added to its charm.
There was beautiful foliage to admire.
I saw some guy actually pull one of these berries off the tree and eat it. 😯 Dude, really? Why would you do that?
This isn’t the sharpest picture (I took it while I was walking and with my trusty point and shoot) but I just knew that I was going to see someone doing this. 😀
I make it a point to never discuss politics (I was raised that discussing religion, politics, and money were big no no’s) but as this falls under the category of art I figured I’d post it anyway. I think it’s clever how they have it set up in each window. I wonder if they got their neighbors to join in or give the okay, or if this is an art gallery of some kind.
Even though I was disappointed at having to postpone my hike, I was happy that I finally got to go to the Magnum pop up shop and to enjoy this beautiful weather.
