Around The Duomo

Esther and I went to the Duomo pretty much everyday.  There was always so much to see when you were there and no two days were ever the same.  If I ever could live in another country for a year, I would pick Italy every time.  I had so many pictures from my trip.  You think I’m bombarding you with all of these posts (and we’re only halfway through), you should see how many pictures I have that I didn’t use for blog posts.  I’ve decided to just post all the Italy posts at once.  I’m not sure I like breaking it up with NYC posts in between.  There’s no flow or continuity.  So, now that that’s out of the way, on to the pictures.

There was a lot of street photography on this trip since Esther and I were really into that when we all met on Flickr.  Esther branches out and does other types of photography.  I love her landscape and architectural shots.  I submitted this picture for the monthly challenge on our photography group on Flickr for the “negative space” category.

I just thought that this woman looked so elegant sitting there in her red outfit at an outdoor cafe.  I also liked that she was sitting by herself. I know people who refuse to go out to a restaurant by themselves.  I don’t get that.  So you’re not going to eat (at least not at a restaurant) because you don’t have anyone to sit with you?  Now I admit that I enjoy being alone more than most people (and especially what most people would consider healthy) but I consider it just as unhealthy to not be able to be by yourself, even to eat a meal.

I swear I didn’t plan on this shot coming out like this.  I just wanted a picture of the woman riding by on the bicycle.  It was only after I looked at the picture later that I saw that it looked like bubbles were coming out of her backside.  If I had been trying to get a shot like that I never would have been able to time it so perfectly.35mm, a7Rii, bicycle, circles, color, Italy, Milan, Sony, street photography in Italy, sunglasses, woman

Esther and I walked through various parks while we were there.  I think this was the day that I met Ziad.

This reminds me a little bit of a photoshoot for some reason. It would be for one of those magazines that wants to portray casual cool but in a glammed up, edgy kind of way.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the outfits?  Simona, do you know?  I wanted to ask but I was bit too shy.  I was shy enough taking their picture which was new to me.  Here in NYC, I just took pictures and didn’t think anything of it.  In Italy, it was a different place, which did make it exciting, but it was also new to me.  I didn’t know the laws concerning street photography so I didn’t want to piss anyone off.

There were quite a few men.  I snapped a picture of these men as one looked over his shoulder.

Feeding the birds and letting them climb on you seems to be a big thing around the Duomo.  You know I wasn’t having any of that.  Never mind my thing about germs.  I don’t want to be the person who gets pooped on and then have the walk down the streets of Milan, back to the hotel, walk by the hotel staff, all while being covered in bird excrement.  Other people didn’t seem to mind being in such close proximity to the birds.

She might have minded a little bit. 😆35mm, a7Rii, birds, black and white, Duomo, holding hands, Italy, Milan, Sony, steps, street photography in Italy, sunglasses

I couldn’t decide whether I liked the pictures of this woman better in color or in black and white.

I have to laugh at the look on his face.  He is not into those types of pictures at all.35mm, a7Rii, April 2017, Asian, camo, color, Duomo, holding hands, jean jacket, Milan, Sony, street photography in Italy

How beautiful is this woman?  She’s sitting on the steps like royalty or a model. She just had this air of class and sophistication.
